CALL GROWS STRONGER FOR DRIVER CELLPHONE LAW.(MAIN)

ALBANY -- Gov. George Pataki said Monday that he likes the idea of prohibiting drivers in New York state from using hand-held cellular telephones, a concept also being embraced by leaders of the state Legislature.

``We're looking at both the Assembly and Senate proposals and I am hopeful that they will reach an agreement and pass a bill,'' Pataki said.

The governor added: ``I like the concept. We just have to work out the details.''
