NT: Smoke in cabin forces landing of Qantas plane
Smoke from a faulty air conditioner in a Qantas plane has forced it to make an unscheduledlanding at Alice Springs Airport.
The Qantas 767 carrying 183 passengers and 11 crew was en route from Singapore to Adelaidevia Darwin when smoke was noticed in the cabin about 7am local time (ACST).
Alice Springs Airport general manager DON MCDONALD says emergency services were summonedwhen the plane made a precautionary landing about 20 minutes later.
A Qantas spokeswoman says the cause of the smoke was found to be a faulty air conditioningunit, and the plane's been cleared for takeoff again.
