Fed: Terminal debate develops into mudslinging

Arguments over the use of Ansett's terminals by Virgin Blue have degenerated into mud-slinging
by both parties.

Virgin Blue has accused Ansett of blocking its access to the troubled airline's Canberra
and Launceston terminals, just 24 hours before it was due to start flights to the cities.

But Ansett administrator Andersen says Virgin Blue never had a legal agreement to use
its Canberra terminal for its Melbourne flights.

As the argument forced Virgin Blue to unload passengers directly onto the Canberra
tarmac yesterday, administrators accused Virgin of staging a publicity stunt and promising
services it cannot provide.

But Virgin Blue denies the accusation and says the company is simply trying to fly
its passengers.
